 “So how was it?”
The 100th[1] text asking me how was the “date”. I shuddered at the word “date”. To me, it was a plain simple dinner in the company of a man sans an elderly chaperone. The company was a great guy who happened to be a writer and from the looks of it, everything [...]

I woke up to an empty bed only to realize that it was Union Guy’s turn to spend time with Safra. Oh, bother, another long day without Safra. I would definitely suffer from a severe case of boredom if not mental block today. I was on leave since Christmas and despite that had not went [...]

Reflecting on 1429H tonight while I recited the New Year prayer after Maghrib, ignited the feeling of deep gratitude and calmness, indescribable beyond words. I gone through a lot last year and I was always wondering whether each  decision or choice I made was a step closer towards making me a better person, a better [...]

ARROGANCE

We think we know what is the best for us,
So we let our empty souls drowned in illusion of hope,
We think we know what is the best for us,
So we let ourselves consumed by the misleading promises,

We locked ourselves in denial
We prefer to live in the mirage we created,
We treat the painful falsity as if it is [...]

Resolution #4 – Wira, I am so gonna pay your RM198.70 in cash!

We met in 2006, when he interviewed me for a SEAPA’s publication aptly entitled “Men and Gods”. He’s scrawny and thin, but with the air [...]

Transits

Transits,
A pleasurable detachment from those long overdue flights,
A lively connection from one place to another,
A brief encounter with stories of strangers,
Whom I wish I could spend more time with,
But rather, we depart ways after quick smiles
and stolen glances,

Transits,
Withdraw me from the hectic and bustling journey,
To familiar lands or alien places,
Either way, I am already in transit,
Whatever it be [...]

Dear People in the Town Council,

I find it disturbing,
And humiliating,
To discover my fine daughter,
And her group of friends,
Sitting in the drains,
With wide innocent smiles
That passerby noticed from miles away,
Getting their dainty small feet,
Soaked in the mud
and their baby fingers,
Picking rough pebbles coated with dirt and old weeds,

I think drains are for frogs,
Or for [...]

We always try to be better persons come New Year because we always think January marks the new beginning of everyone’s new life[1]. Well, fair enough. But apart from questioning why must we wait THAT long to improve ourselves, I am also questioning this annual ritual of putting up a new list of resolutions. What [...]
